Maine Photography Workshops offered during peak viewing seasons
Can’t decide which one of the photography workshops to participate in? Maybe we can help! Photography workshops differ depending on the time of year you choose to participate.
Spring Photography Workshops
Mid to late June in Baxter State Park, Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument and the Katahdin Region in general, provides opportunities to photograph a world coming to life after a long winter. Picturesque indigenous wildflowers, rushing waterways, boreal birds as well as other flora and fauna, including Moose and their newborn calves provide abundant inspiration and opportunities to learn new photography skills. June workshops produce larger numbers of Moose sightings. Historically we have had anywhere from fifteen sightings with the high being 40! Depending on the weather, plan to photograph by kayak (flat water only), from a pontoon boat, as well as tour by van during this Baxter State Park, Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument and environs Maine photography workshop. For examples of subject matter photographed in June watch the video short below.
Fall Photography Workshops
The Autumn photography workshops coincide with the Fall Moose Rut and spectacular Fall Foliage that the region is noted for. Landscape photography opportunities in the Katahdin Region are magnificent and truly inspiring this time of year.
We make no guarantees but this is the best time to capture the often elusive Moose in courtship and mating behavior with a backdrop of autumn color that illuminates the region each Fall. Moose are much more difficult to locate in Autumn. Not only do their habitat preferences change in the Fall, diminishing population numbers due to climate conditions make Fall Moose photography some of the most challenging wildlife photography you will experience. That being said, due to our knowledge of the Region and local network of spotters we feel we have the best advantage over other tours. Plan for one sunset cruise and one early morning cruise via pontoon boat during the Fall photography workshops affording spectacular views of Katahdin and lingering Loons. The rest of the Fall workshop is devoted to photographing and touring by van.
